A former teacher in Goodyear, Arizona has pleaded guilty to sexual molestation. Brittany Zamora, 28, faced multiple charges of sexual conduct with a minor, attempted molestation and public sexual indecency. For the first charge alone, she could face between 20 and 27 years in prison. Zamora accepted a plea deal on June 10, 2019, according to Oxygen.

Goodyear Teacher Convicted Of Child Molestation

Zamora was arrested in March 2018 after the emergence of accusations that she maintained a sexual relationship with one of her sixth-grade students at Las Brisas Academy, a public school in the Liberty Elementary School District. According to authorities, Zamora and the young boy had sex on multiple occasions, both in her car and her classroom.

Student Writing

Reports suggest that Zamora engaged in sexual activity with the student in front of other students, even asking another boy to stand guard while she and the victim made out before a talent show. In police interviews released to the public, the second boy said Zamora was “not a good person,” saying, “I was one of the witnesses, one of the people that saw Ms. Zamora and my friend […] touch each other.” The boy says his experience was “very uncomfortable.” In addition, the boy says Zamora asked him on one occasion whether he was circumcised or uncircumcised. “I didn’t know what that means, so Ms. Zamora went on her phone and looked up uncircumcised and circumcised,” the student continued in his police interview.

Zamora was also charged for furnishing indecent images to a minor after prosecutors discovered that she sent the boy nude pictures of herself. Apparently, the school, Las Brisas Academy, was swirling with rumors about Zamora’s inappropriate relationship for the months preceding her arrest, with some students saying the boy impregnated Zamora. There is also a second student who says Zamora sent him naked pictures, but she was not charged in connection to this incident.

Zamora was ultimately arrested after the boy’s parents discovered inappropriate text messages on his phone. In one of the messages, the boy told Zamora that he wanted to have sex with her again. Zamora responded, “I know baby! I want you every day with no limit.” In another text, the teacher wrote, “If I could quit my job and [expletive] you all day long I would.” Police set up a controlled call during which Zamora apologized to the victim’s parents, assuring them she was not pregnant.

Victim’s Family Files Civil Sexual Abuse Lawsuit

The boy’s family has filed a private civil lawsuit against Zamora, her husband and the Liberty Elementary School District. In court documents, the family demands $2.5 million in financial damages from the defendants. Their lawsuit accuses Zamora’s husband of attempting to coverup the affair. After the family’s suspicions were confirmed, Zamora’s husband allegedly pleaded with the boy’s father not to go to the police, suggesting they “meet up” and “settle this.”

Zamora was initially charged with eight counts of sexual conduct with a minor, two counts of child molestation and one count of transmitting obscene materials. Her sentencing hearing has been scheduled for July 12, 2019.
