In a deeply unsettling case, 23-year-old Ethan Isaiah Rodriguez of Dallas has been charged with capital murder following the fatal stabbing of 28-year-old Mason Raymond Davis. The incident occurred while Rodriguez was assisting Davis in moving out of his Dallas apartment.
Surveillance footage from the apartment complex captured Rodriguez and Davis moving items between the apartment and Davis's vehicle. Around midnight, Rodriguez was seen leaving the apartment alone in Davis's vehicle. Concern arose when Davis failed to report to work and could not be reached, prompting a welfare check by Dallas police. Upon entering the apartment, officers discovered Davis deceased, having suffered 55 stab wounds.
Davis's vehicle was reported stolen, and on the following day, it was spotted by law enforcement. During an attempted traffic stop, Rodriguez, who was driving the vehicle, fled at high speed, leading to multiple collisions before ultimately crashing the vehicle. He then attempted to evade officers on foot but was apprehended after a brief pursuit, during which a stun gun was deployed. Notably, at the time of his arrest, Rodriguez was wearing shoes that matched a bloody shoe print found at the crime scene, further linking him to the homicide.
Rodriguez faces multiple charges, including capital murder, evading arrest in a motor vehicle, and possession of marijuana. He is currently held on a combined bond of $1.25 million.
