On April 8, 2025, a tragic mass shooting occurred at a townhouse complex in Spotsylvania County, near Fredericksburg, Virginia, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to three others. Authorities have since apprehended four suspects in connection with the incident.
Around 5:30 p.m. on April 8, law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire at the 500 block of Olde Greenwich Circle. Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple victims with gunshot wounds. Three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while three others were transported to local hospitals in critical condition. The deceased have been identified as 18-year-olds Chase Feaster and Alonzo Goffney, both from Spotsylvania County, and a 20-year-old man whose identity is pending confirmation.
The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office has charged four individuals in connection with the shooting: two 16-year-olds, one 17-year-old, and 18-year-old Jeremiah Upson. The charges include malicious wounding, unlawful assembly, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. One of the 16-year-old suspects is currently hospitalized due to a gunshot wound and will be taken into custody upon release. Initial investigations suggest that the incident stemmed from an illegal gun sale that escalated into a robbery.
In light of the shooting, Spotsylvania County Public Schools implemented a two-hour delay on April 9 to provide support for students and staff affected by the tragedy. Additional security measures were also put in place at local high schools to ensure the safety and well-being of the school community.
