In a harrowing incident that highlights the persistent threat of gun violence, a 33-year-old man from Richland County, South Carolina, has been charged with multiple felonies following a shooting that occurred on April 27, 2025. The suspect, identified as Kahil Davis, now faces charges including attempted murder, weapons violations, and drug trafficking after allegedly shooting a man during a confrontation on Kenmore Park Drive.
According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting happened just after 7:00 p.m. when an off-duty deputy, who was in the vicinity, heard the sound of gunfire near Kenmore Park Drive. Responding swiftly, the deputy discovered an adult male victim lying in the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound. While the deputy provided emergency aid, a vehicle was seen speeding away from the scene, believed to be connected to the shooter.
Emergency Medical Services quickly arrived and transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. As of the most recent reports, the victim remains in stable condition and is expected to recover. Authorities have not released the name of the victim, citing ongoing investigative needs and respect for family privacy.
After a comprehensive investigation by Richland County deputies, Kahil Davis was identified as the suspected shooter. On May 20, 2025, Davis was located and arrested. He is currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center with bond set at $150,000.
In addition to attempted murder, Davis has been charged with the following:
Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
Possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a violent offense
Possession of body armor by a violent felon
Trafficking fentanyl
The inclusion of fentanyl trafficking among the charges suggests a broader investigation into Davis’s activities beyond this single violent episode. The presence of body armor and a firearm during the arrest further elevates the seriousness of the case, painting a troubling picture of the suspect’s intentions and preparedness for violent confrontation.
The incident has understandably stirred concern among local residents, particularly those living in or near the Kenmore Park Drive area. Gun violence continues to be a significant public safety issue in communities across the country, and incidents like this one only deepen anxieties about safety, particularly when such crimes occur in residential neighborhoods during daylight hours.
Law enforcement officials have pledged a thorough prosecution of the case, and community leaders have renewed calls for violence prevention programs and stronger support systems for those affected by crime.
